In 1969 Amitabh Bachchan made big-screen debut with Saat Hindustani, and after four decades he is busy in the entertaining audience. At the age of 76, Big B has been selected for Dada SahebPhalke's award for 2018 for his precious contribution to the Indian film industry.


PrakashJavadekar, Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting wrote on Twitter about this big announcement. He wrote on Twitter that "The legendary Amitabh Bachchan has entertained and encouraged more than two generations and has been nominated for #DadaSahabPhalke award. The country and the international community are very happy.


This announcement was postponed this year on the account of the LokSabha elections. The National Film Awards announcements were also postponed by few months. Filmmaker Karan Johar was the first one to congratulate Big B on social media. He called him a bonafide rock star. And also wrote that he is the most inspiring star of Indian Cinema! He is a bonfire rock star. He further added that he is quite proud and honored to be in the Era of AMITABH BACHCHAN!

Bachchan’s body of work is unmatched in the Hindi cinema. He has been honored with four National Film Awards, for various films such as Paa, Agneepath, Black, and Piku. He has also got the Padma Bhushan in 2001, Padma Shri in 1984, and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015.
The Dada SahebPhalke award is the utmost recognition in Indian cinema, which was convened on the late Vinod Khanna in 2017.
