Alcatel One Touch is one of the growing mobile phone brands and has been active in launching Android smartphones recently. The brand recently launched a new Android smartphone in India dubbed the Alcatel One Touch Idol X+. The Idol X+ was first unveiled at the CES 2014 and was made available in China in the wake of this year. Priced at 16,999 INR, this smartphone was made exclusively available in Flipkart on June. With features like Boomband and JBL headphones complementary in the box, the Idol X+ is an attempt for the brand to be back in the game.

The new Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ is a pretty looking device and in available in Bluish Black and White color variants. Matte finished plastic rear panel, chrome edges and rounded corners give this smartphone a typical yet decent appeal. The front of the phone bears on brand logo. While the top of the display is flanked by a front camera, on the bottom of the display dwell three capacitive navigation keys – Back, Home and Options. The rear panel of the phone houses the primary snapper along with a flash and the branding. The power button finds its way to the left edge of the phone and the volume rockers remain on the right edge.

Sporting a 5 inch HD display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels, the Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ greets the user with a pixel density of 441 ppi. This translates to amazing video playback experience. The colors are brilliant and vivid with impressive color accuracy and viewing angles are also great. The images and text appear sharp and crisp with no pixilation whatsoever. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2.

The Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ is equipped with a 2GHz octa core MediaTek MT6592 chipset with ARM Mali 450 GPU which is mated with a 2GB RAM. This processor is better than the processor present in the Gionee Elife S5.5 which is another octa core smartphone launched recently. The 2GHz clock and 2GB RAM make the Idol X+ a pretty fast phone. A built in memory of 16 GB is offered by the phone. The storage can also be expanded. Featuring a battery rated at 2500mAH the phone is said to deliver up to 27 hours of 2G talk-time and 650 hours of 2G standby time along with a continuous music playback of up to 36 hours. Idol X+ runs on Android 4.2.2 JellyBean out-of-the-box.

Connectivity features include 3G, Wi-Fi Direct and DLNA functionality, GPS/A-GPS, GPRS/EDGE and Bluetooth.

The Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ boasts a 13.1 megapixel auto focus rear snapper with LED flash. A 2 megapixel front facing camera wraps up the cam-package of the phone.

While the brand seemed to have lost, the announcement of Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ can be seen as a comeback for the company into Indian smartphone market. The Idol X+ is a wholesome package. While the phone could have been made to look more premium, the powerful performance and specs make it a potential handset.
