Intex recently launched its new smartphone Intex Aqua i5 Mini. While the phone was listed on the company’s website at the beginning of this month, it is now available in India at 6,850 INR. This dual SIM phone operates on Android JellyBean and combines decent specs with a fine processor. The wave of budget Android smartphones has hit the market in full strength and this smartphone is Intex’s input to it.

Intex Aqua i5 Mini looks extremely slender and stylish with a metallic etched rear panel and a classy white body. Sporting dimensions of 135 x 67.4 x 9.5 mm, this phone weighs 140 grams and feels light in the hand. However, absence of curved edges and a rather blocky design can feel a little uncomfortable while operating it. The display of the phone spans 4.5 inches. Featuring a FWVGA IPS display with a resolution of 480 x 845 pixels, the Intex Aqua i5 Mini has a pixel density of 218 ppi. The screen doesn’t feel as sharp and clear because of an average resolution. The fascia of the phone features proximity and ambient light sensors on the top along with a front camera. The bottom of the display is bordered by three capacitive navigation keys – Options, Home and Back. The rear panel sports a camera, an LED flash, speakers and the branding. Micro-USB ports find sits way on the bottom edge with the headphone jack is on the top one. The volume rockers can be seen on the right edge of the phone.

Intex Aqua i5 Mini is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad core processor with a MediaTek MT6582 chipset. The processor is coupled with a 1 GB RAM. While the internal memory is rated at 4 GB, expandable memory storage is up to 32 GB. A 1500 mAh battery backs up the smartphone. According to what the brand claims, the phone is capable of delivering a talk-time of up to 5 hours along with a stand-by time of up to 180 hours. Operating on Android 4.4.2 JellyBean, the smartphone loses some points on an outdated OS. There is no news whether or not any update on the OS would be available.

The Aqua i5 Mini sports an 8 megapixel camera with auto focus technology. This rear snapper comes with LED flash. A 2 megapixel front cam completes the camera experience.

When it comes to connectivity, the Intex Aqua i5 Mini puts forward 3G, GPRS/EDGE, GPS/A-GPS and Wi-Fi along with Bluetooth, Micro-USB and FM radio.

In addition to the proximity and ambient light sensors, the smartphone also features accelerometer. The brand offers this smartphone with some preinstalled apps viz. Intex Cloud, BigFlix, Hungama, Sony Liv, Quikr, Saavn, NQ Mobile Security and so forth.

According to the brand, this phone is an attempt to provide the customers with a pretty looking phone delivering powerful performance at affordable prices. To an extent, Intex has managed to bring forth a smartphone that promises “delightful smartphone experience” in the budget segment.
