Micromax has been on fire lately with its Canvas series which “can” perform impressively well. The brand has never looked back since it launched the first Canvas smartphone and is not continuing the tradition with the new Canvas Fire. The Canvas Fire A104 is an Android 4.4 KitKat based smartphone from the brand and is priced at just Rs. 6,999. The new Canvas Fire, according to the brand, “Can Amplify Sound”.
Interestingly, Micromax listed another smartphone with a different model number but the same moniker as Canvas Fire A093 on its Indian website in the wake of this month. A093 was too priced at Rs. 6,999 on an e-commerce website.
Amazingly beautiful for its price
The new Micromax Canvas Fire is an extremely sleek and stylish phone with a rather slim bodice. A black front and rear against a dull golden frame makes the phone look absolutely premium. However, severely glossy back panel might be a welcome attracter for finger prints and smudges. Black and Gold is not the only color combo you get with the Canvas Fire. Along with Black and Gold, the Canvas Fire is available in White and Gold, and White and Silver. All color combinations contribute to a high end finish on the phone. A rectangular body and round edges elevate the luxurious look of the smartphone.
Software, Specs and Features
The Micromax Canvas Fire is a dual SIM handset that runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box. This is not the first smartphone from the brand that runs on this latest OS. The Micromax Bolt A069, Canvas Fire A093, Micromax Canvas Engage, Micromax canvas Gold and Micromax Canvas Unite 2, all contribute to the KitKat operated family of smartphones from the brand.
The phone sports a 4.5 inch display with a resolution of 480x854 pixels which is a little disappointing.
Canvas Fire A103 runs on a 1.3 GHz quad core MediaTek (MT6582M) processor mated to 1 GB of RAM. This confirms the Fire’s place in the budget segment.
The smartphone features a 5 megapixel primary camera with LED flash. This rear snapper is located on the top right corner of the back panel of the phone. A front camera of 0.3 megapixels completes the cam-experience on the phone. While it cannot be accounted as much, the features on Micromax Fire A103 are on par with its pricing.
The phone comes with an inbuilt storage of 4 GB. MicroSD cards of up to 32 GB of storage capacity are4 supported.
For the phone to be able to “amplify sound” presence of impressive speakers is paramount. According to what the brand claims, the Micromax Canvas Fire A103 comes with dual front speakers.
The smartphone is backed up by a 1900 mAh battery which sounds about right for the processor this phone comes with. The battery is rated to deliver up to 6 hours of talk time and up to 180 hours of standby time. Canvas Fire A103’s connectivity options include GPRS/EDGE, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, GPS and Micro-USB.
Since the budget segment is already crowded with a lot of full-featured phones, it might take a little time for Canvas Fire to find its place in the market.
