Wickedleak is counted as one of the lesser successful stories when it comes to Indian smartphone brands. After offering its customers with Android and Windows tablets, the brand diversified to the raging market of Android smartphones by offering low cost android operated phones. The brand has earlier introduced the Wammy Passion and the Wammy Titan series and now is all set to follow the new octa-core tradition. In the wake of June, 2014, Wickedleak introduced its new octa-core smartphone dubbed the Wammy Neo.

According to what the Indian Handset maker claims, the new Wickedleak Wammy Neo is “probably the most affordable octa-core smartphone” in the Indian market. Another factor the brand is boasting about is the optional AquaProtect coating that comes with the Wammy Neo. Tagged with the price of 11,990 INR, the Wammy Neo was made available to the customers on June 15 via the company’s website. As far as other octa-core smartphones are concerned, the Gionee Elife S5.5 is now available at around 20,000 INR while the Panasonic P81 is best priced at 18,990 INR. Also, the Micromax Canvas Knight A305 is available at around 24,000 INR. So far, the claims Wickedleak has made stand true. However, it depends on Wammy Neo’s performance that whether or not the smartphone is really a money saver.

This dual SIM phone, featuring a GSM-WCDMA configuration is powered by a 1.7 GHz octa core MediaTek MTK6592 SoC with a Mali 450 GPU. Sporting a 2GB RAM, the new Wammy Neo offers 8 GB of in built memory which is less than what was expected. The expandable memory storage can be up to 64 GB. The smartphone offers a decently fast browsing experience all credits to a fine processor. However, an outdated OS ruins the practice. Wammy Neo operates on Android 4.2 JellyBean but the brand has promised a soon to be available update and in all hope the OS would be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat in near future. Backed up by a battery rated at 2200 mAh, Wammy Neo is said to have a stand by time of 5-6 days.

At 114.5 x 71 x 7.7 mm, the Wickedleak Wammy Neo is 0.2 mm slimmer than the Panasonic P81. Heating issues are unavoidable in slim phones, especially the ones with octa-core processors. This smartphone is no different. Sporting a 5 inch IPS display with a resolution of 720 x 1080 pixel, the Wammy Neo offers a fine video playback and gaming experience through a Dragon Tail screen. Vivid colors and crisp imaging help score the phone some points.

Wickedleak Wammy Neo sports 13 MP rear snapper with LED flash and auto-focus and an amazing 5 MP front camera.

On the connectivity front, the smartphone offers 3G support, GPRS/EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with hot spot functionality and Direct functionality. Bluetooth v2.1 and GPS/A-GPS are also present.

The Wickedleak Wammy Neo is the brand’s attempt to put forth a smartphone that is capable of providing an equally delightful smartphone experience as other phones do at higher prices. Lying almost in the budget segment, this smartphone is a must-consider.
