Adi Shankaracharya’s Statue To Be Unveiled At Kedarnath

According to tourist industry authorities of Uttarakhand, Adi Guru Shankaracharya's 12 foot tall, 35-tonne sculpture in Kedarnath was sculpted by Mysore-based craftsmen from Chlorite Schist Stone, which is renowned to resist rain, sunlight, and climate of the region. The sculpture, which will be revealed on the 5th of November 2021 by Prime Minister (PM) of India Shri Narendra Modi Ji, has been scrubbed with coconut water to bring out its lustre, according to authorities of the Uttarakhand.

According to Uttarakhand Chief Minister who is Pushkar Singh Dhami, the inauguration of the sculpture would be live-streamed to the remaining 11 Jyotir Lingas, four maths or monastic institutes, and prominent Shiva Temples.

The samadhi of Adi Guru Shankaracharya, which is located near the Kedarnath shrine, was flushed away in the Uttarakhand floods during the year 2013. As part of the Kedarnath cathedral's rebuilding effort, a new sculpture of Shankaracharya has been placed close behind it.

Yogiraj Shilpi, who is an artist from Mysore with a five-generation pedigree, finished the new sculpture with the assistance of his son, Arun. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) hired Yogiraj Shilpi after a countrywide hunt. Yogiraj began sculpting the sculpture in September 2020, using approximately one hundred and twenty tonnes of rock. According to authorities of Uttarakhand, the statue portrays Adi Shankaracharya in a sitting position and weighs roughly thirty-five tonnes.

According to tourism experts of Uttarakhand, both the federal administration as well as the state administrations are equally dedicated to the renovation of Kedarnath Dham, which will be done in stages and will cost more than five hundred crores.

Satpal Maharaj who is the Uttarakhand state’s tourism minister, remarked that the renovation of Kedarnath would not have been feasible without Prime Minister (PM) of India Shri Narendra Modi Ji's vision. Satpal Maharaj who is the Uttarakhand state’s tourism minister went on to say that they will be glad to see him when he arrives. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister (PM) of India will also be heralding the next stage of Shri Kedarnath's repair project.

Dilip Jawalkar who is tourism secretary of Uttarakhand expressed his gratitude towards Prime Minister (PM) of India Shri Narendra Modi Ji as well as Jindal Steel Works for their significant contributions to the monument's reconstruction. They are confident that this building will not only demonstrate followers' faith in the principles of this renowned philosopher but will also assist the state to attract more tourists.

Adi Shankaracharya, who is a native of Kerala, was an 8th-century Indian mystic and thinker who established Advaita Vedanta teaching and made a substantial addition to Hinduism's unification by founding four mathas, or monastic institutions, all over India. Adi Shankaracharya is supposed to have taken samadhi in the Uttarakhand Himalayas, where he is said to have already entered into samadhi at Kedarnath. Adi Shankaracharya constructed one of the four mathas at Jyotir Math which is located in the Chamoli district, as well as the idol at Badrinath, which are both situated in Uttarakhand.
