Congress Trying To Make It A Triangular Contest In Family Bastion - Rae Bareli

The Congress looks to be undertaking last-ditch efforts to make the elections triangular in what is somehow being viewed as a close battle between the Samajwadi Party and the Bharatiya Janata party in five assembly constituencies in Rae Bareli — the party's last unbeaten stronghold in Uttar Pradesh. The Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat is represented by Sonia Gandhi, the Congress President.

Rakesh Singh who is from Harchandpur and Aditi Singh who is from Rae Bareli were the winners of the party's 2 assembly constituencies in 2017.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has been working hard to establish a stronghold in Rae Bareli. In 2018, as Bharatiya Janata Party president, Amit Shah welcomed Congress MLC Dinesh Singh into the party. Rakesh Singh and Aditi Singh quickly shifted their allegiances to the Bharatiya Janata Party. Both are now running for the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2022 Assembly elections, providing strong competition to the Congress contenders.

Manish Chauhan has been nominated by the Congress to run opposite Aditi Singh, whereas Surendra Vikram Singh has been nominated by the party to run opposite Rakesh Singh in Harchandpur. Atul Singh has been nominated by the Congress in Unchahar, whereas Sudha Dwivedi has been nominated in Sareni. Sushil Pasi, on either side, has been nominated for the Bachhrawan state assembly by Congress.

The Congress used its election campaign to highlight how the Bharatiya Janata party has treated Rae Bareli like a stepdaughter. It also draws on the Nehru-Gandhi family's long-standing links to the Rae Bareli community.

During her campaign, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who is the Congress general secretary mentioned her family's relationship with the folks of the district, including how they supported Sonia Gandhi, previous President of Congress and Indira Gandhi, Prime Minister of India from the seat throughout the years.

Both Sonia Gandhi, who addressed to a digital gathering on Monday, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the group's secretary-general, who tented in the district for two days last week, talked to the public about development concerns. Congress, on the other hand, appears to have failed to sufficiently rake up development as the key poll topic.

UB Singh, the head of Baiswara Degree University in Lalganj, Rae Bareli, believes that the Party has only partly succeeded in bringing the development problem to the forefront. On the Rae Bareli assembly seat, it seems to be a straight fight between Manish Chauhan and Aditi Singh. Muslim votes might play a deciding influence in the election. Congress has a chance to win the seat if Muslims support its nominees.

Sushil Pasi looks to have an advantage over his opponents in Bachhrawan, according to Singh, and might even capture the seat. Dhirendra Bahadur Singh and Sudha Dwivedi are also running well in the Harchandpur and Sareni seats, respectively. In the 2022 Assembly polls, Congress could surpass the halfway point and replicate its achievement of capturing at least two seats.

In Unchahar, Singh noted, Manoj Pandey, the previous minister of the Samajwadi Party would fight Amar Pal Maurya from Bharatiya Janata Party in the main election, while Congress's Atul Singh's prospects are dim.
