The Modi government has passed a historical resolution bill to repeal Article 370 of the Constitution that provides special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

The Modi government has passed a resolution to repeal Article 370 of the Constitution that provides special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Also, Amit Shah moved a bill suggesting bifurcation Jammu and Kashmir in two union territories. As tensions have increased in Jammu and Kashmir, Amit Shah announced that Article 370 will be revoked from the time of President's assent. After this, the Rajya Sabha observed massive uproar of the Opposition smashing the Centre over the move. Amit Shah has asked the opposition to come for a debate on the resolution. Ghulam Nabi Azad further added that by annulling Article 370 that accords special status to J&K, the current government has murdered the Indian constitution. Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad pointed out the issue that before the announcement of the Kashmir issue, it is must to solve the issue of Kashmir as it is under curfew and it is a war-like situation. Also, 3 CMs are under house arrest.
  
The issue of Bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir
  
Amit Shah, Union Home Minister proposed a bill to split J & K in two Union Territories: Jammu and Kashmir. He proposed to reorganize Jammu and Kashmir. 
He further added that this is done in view of threats of cross-border terrorism.

Some information about Article 370?
  
Article 370 was the bone of contention between the BJP and state’s politicians. The controversial article pacts with special powers discussed in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. It enables the state Assembly to curate its own Constitution and giving it an autonomous power of the state. Article 370 also gives other powers like the requirement of the concurrence of state government if central plans to make modifications to the concurrent list of subjects.

Tensions have deepened in the state after Mehbooba Mufti, Omar Abdullah, and Sajad Lone has been put under house arrest. Omar Abdullah had tweeted that he has been placed under house arrest from midnight & the procedure has already started for other mainstream leaders. He further tweeted for people of Kashmir and said that we don't know what is in future for us but has given hope that Almighty Allah has planned something better. Mehbooba Mufti said that it is ironic that elected representatives are under house arrest. 
The government levied restrictions in Srinagar district. Also, the administration has called off Amarnath Yatra and asked all travelers to leave the state immediately.
