It seems the divide between the Shiv Sena and the BJP is going to get even wider after Uddhav Thackeray gave a speech which many in the BJP might even think as personal attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In his speech on Monday the Shiv Sena leader equated Modi with Afzal Khan who wanted to defeat the Martha King Chhatrapati Shivaji.
This speech will certainly go into the marrow of all the Shiv Sena supporters because the legacy of and foundation of Shiv Sena is tied to Chhatrapati Shivaji. Uddhav Thackeray said in his speech and according to Times of India reports, he said “PM Modi is here in Maharashtra to campaign, and his ministers are joining him. It seems like the army of Afzal Khan is intruding to win the state."
He further added “Don't fall prey to that. They (BJP) are here to break the state by wearing the mascot of development. They are conspiring to divide Maharashtra."
Not to be left behind, Uddhav Thackeray cousin Raj Thackeray also jumped on the Modi Bashing band wagon. In a press release from MNS it says "Ask any BJP leader and he will tell you that dhokla is spicier than vada pav, khakra sweeter than puran poli and garba finer than lavani. It will not be surprising if tomorrow Modi states that Surat will be the capital of Maharashtra instead of Mumbai and all these Khadses, Shelars, Tawdes and Munde-Palves will agree. They are all consumed by the Modi-Shah ghosts."
A further comment on the press release was “Modi had experienced the friendship and generosity of the Marathi 'manoos' on May 16 and will now experience his anger on October 19. The Marathi spine is not soft like the dhokla. The Modi-Shah duo will realize this after the elections."
Now there is no call for comparing two different cultures, dance routine or cousin. These Cultural and Gastronomical comments could have been avoided. But in all this rhetoric Mr. Modi has tried to remain above politics and has been only talking about issues and the mismanagement of the State by Congress and NCP. He is campaigning as the leader of the biggest party in India and also as a elder statesmen, leaving actual bud slinging to others in BJP.
One thing is clear, Both Shiv Sena and MNS are Totally Warped in Fear with an icing of paranoia of what they think of Modi and the ambition of BJP. It seems they are very much afraid of losing all the ground in the upcoming assembly election in Maharashtra.
Now in reality there is some truth in the action and behavior of both Uddhav and Raj Thackeray but by making such Juvenile Statements which in their mind it seems will invigorate their base is totally baseless. It is a total sign of Weakness and Desperation. If BJP gets single majority in Maharashtra, then with what face both Uddhav and Raj Thackeray will try to mend ties with the BJP.
