In a surprising move the Board of control for Cricket (BCCI) in India has decided to appoint former Indian captain Ravi Shastri as the team director for the ODI’s starting on 25thAugust in Bristol. This decision was taken because of the poor showing of team in the 3-1 loss to England during the concluded Test series according to NDTV.

Also Sanjay Bangar the coach of Kings 11 Punjab has been flown to England as one of the support staff because of his history of successfully guiding his side to the IPL finials. Duncan Fletcher the head coach will remain at his position, but the writing may be one the wall as far as his coaching stint with India is concerned. With a string of poor performance and the appointment of Shastri as director of Team India for ODI series, it is quite possible his days are numbered. But the question which is in the mind of all the fans is, what can Shastri do to turn around this team or perhaps India has a very good limited over side and  if they win the series all will be forgotten.

Ravi Shastri will have to take some tough decisions with regards to the future of the team since the cricket world cup which is being held in Australia and New Zealand is just around the corner. Players may have to be cut or clear warning has to be given for complacency. Also India will be touring Australia for a test series and if India’s game is not improved by then the Australians will make our team suffer even more with their aggressive tactics.
