It is Ro-Hit Sharma all the Way at the Eden Gardens
No one will ever know on what side of the bed Rohit Sharma woke up today, but it is for him to remember and forever for us to enjoy this unbelievable knock in One Day Cricket History.
No one will ever know on what side of the bed Rohit Sharma woke up today, but it is for him to remember and forever for us to enjoy this unbelievable knock in One Day Cricket History. This man had already scored a double hundred in one day match but with this innings of 264 runs he will forever be enshrined in the history books of cricket.
The first person to score a double hundred was Sachin Tendulkar when he scored 200 runs against the South Africans and it was Virender Sehwag who followed suite with his swashbuckling 219 against the West Indies. Then Rohit Sharma blazed to his maiden double hundred in limited over match against the Australians were he scored 209.
But can anyone imagine a player scoring 264 runs in a limited over cricket match? One thing is certain this knock has got to put the selectors in a very happy quandary. In this ongoing series the Indian batsmen have performed very well, especially the top order with Shikher Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane. Also the very talented but unfortunate Ambati Rayudu came on his own. But Rohit was always touted as the talent which never delivered. But boy did deliver today!
He had dream debut to his test career scoring back to back centuries against the West Indies, but from then it has been bit of a slide for him. However this game against the Hapless Sri Lankan side will give the confidence that he needs and play a crucial role in India’s quest for world cup glory in 2015 in Australia and New Zealand. Experts have always regarded him to be a player gifted with all-round ability as batsmen, but it was his temperament and fitness which has always failed him. Hopefully this is all the thing of the past and he will go on to do more such wonders for Team India.
