By the looks of all the latest election results the BJP is going to form a government in Jharkhand and in the state of Jammu and Kashmir the BJP as won 24 seats which is an achievement. However the biggest loser is Congress Party who has seen their fortune dip further and in Kashmir the fortune of Omar Abdulla’s National Conference has also taken a beating which will see the end of the Abdulla family hold in this state.
By all likelihood BJP will form government in Jharkhand but it may fall just short of getting absolute majority and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) which is led by Mehbooba Muft in Kashmir would now have no choice but the form the government with the BJP. These elections saw some huge voter turnout especially in Jammu and Kashmir which saw high percentage of people voting which led to the direct and unwanted criticism from Mehbooba Muft who blamed the Media for high voter turnout which did not go too well with the people. She said the high voter turnout was a “defeat to Pakistan and Hurriyat Conference.”
The election campaign led by Amit Shah and BJP’s main trump card Prime Minister Narendra Modi has again paid rich dividends and all other major state players have been sidelined. The results in J&K must be the most satisfying of all since it was one state were the BJP has never done well
