Kangana For Justice To Kangana Vs Shiv Sena: Changing Hues Of Protest

Actor Kangana Ranaut has recently been in loggerheads with the Maharashtra government. Her war of words with Shiv Sena is as loud as the war cry of Jhansi ki Rani Laxmi Bai in Manikarnika. Her short yet enough to run a dagger through the heart videos ever since the demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput has been all over the internet.

Garnering likes, shares, retweets, and sparking off debates. Her statements became sharper, her goal more definite, her targets more specific as the alleged murder case's investigation intensified.  This was all related to the late actor and the impeding 'justice', then, what went wrong?

Kangana's verbal spat with Shiv Sena's very own, and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut turned worse after she called out Mumbai Police and compared Mumbai to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). This was followed by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) declaring her Pali Hill office as 'illegal construction' and carrying out demolition work.

Kangana, who was not in Mumbai at the start of BMC's action, rushed back from her home town Himachal Pradesh even as her lawyers managed a stay order from the Bombay High Court. The next hearing has been scheduled for September 22.

Some of you may think of this as an outcome of patriarchy. A pretty woman with a bright career and of an outspoken nature is trying to be flamboyant and hence this won't be tolerated.

With the recent arrest of actor Rhea Chakraborty by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and videos of her being hounded by the media, left many from the industry to speak up in favour of her. The 'Jalebi' actor wearing a 'smashing patriarchy' t-shirt during her arrest became the talk of the town. This somehow pushed us to jump into the conclusion and take the patriarchy bit forward, keeping Kangana in focus.

Little did we realise when the focus shifted from Kangana's remarks on nepotism in Bollywood to her disappointment with Mumbai Police over inaction in the most talked-about Sushant case and then turning everything into all personal, more so, political, involving the ruling Shiv Sena government. Now, it's evidently, Kangana vs the Shiv Sena.

Kangana's inclination towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Hindutva is thrown open to the public. Her induction to the saffron party might just come as an end product of this ongoing rift and it certainly should not surprise many or any, to be honest.

Although Shiv Sena's ideology too speaks of Hindutva, it has distanced itself from the BJP since the last state Assembly elections. The saffron party being the main opponent in Maharashtra, Kangana was an easy target for the Shiv Sena government.

However, there is a positive side to all the pandemonium that has taken place so far. With a Y-plus security cover, the 'Queen' of Bollywood has made it to a pan-India political image without even stepping into active politics.

In the middle of all this, the questions are bound to rise. What about Sushant? Where is the justice? Was it all staged? When did it all become about Kangana and an unwanted political muscle show?

It might take days for us, maybe weeks or even months, or another Bollywood celebrity to die an unceremonious death to find answers. Till then, we have little option but to sit back and watch. What else can we do? What else?
