APP was again stuck by a very sharp comment and it came from one of its founding members Mr. Shanti Bhushan who was a former law Minster of India. Mr Bhushan said, “Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of AAP lacks organizational skills which are seriously hurting the growth of this Party across India”. Already this new party has suffered various reverses with senior leaders like Shazia Ilimi quitting and Yogendra Yadav who was the chief campaign strategist expressing serious disagreement on how the party should function and the future course of action for APP. With so much dissent which has plagued this already beleaguered party in the last few months after its abysmal performance in the general election, this particular comment by Shanti Bhushan which directly challenges the competency of Arvind Kejriwal as the leader of APP could not have come at a worst time.
Mr Bhushan not mincing words when he says that there is no democracy within the party and Mr Kejriwal thinks since the party made him the National convener, only his voice can represent the party. Moments after this comment was made public, APP launched a damage control by stating that they completely disagree with Shanti Bhushan and his comments are misplaced. The party hit back by stating “The biggest example of internal democracy is the party's decision to contest Lok Sabha elections on a large number of seats, despite opposition from the AAP national convener, Arvind Kejriwal”. In the meantime Prakash Bhushan, son of Shanti Bhushan, has distanced himself from the comments of his father and on his tweeter handle made it very clear that “What Shanti Bhushan has expressed are his personal views, this matter should have been discussed in the party”.
