The Australian Prime Minister is all set to visit India in the first week of September to improve relations and trade according to Press Trust of India. Speaking to reporters Mr. Tony Abbot said “I will travel to India and Malaysia from September 4 to 6. On my first visit to India as Prime Minister (PM), I will visit New Delhi and India's financial capital, Mumbai, to strengthen the strategic partnership between our two countries".
Sounding very enthusiastic about the future relation between India and Australia Mr. Abbot said "There is potential for further cooperation in resources, science, technology and education". Mr. Abbott further added "My visit will be an opportunity to engage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi early in the term of his government to increase bilateral cooperation to advance our mutual interests".
The Australian PM is coming to India with a high powered delegation which includes influential businessmen who are eager to be part of the vision of the new Indian government under the Mr. Modi. Also there is speculation of increase in defense ties between the two nations and greater cooperation with regards to maritime routes and safety.
With a new government at helm which also has clear mandate the relationship between both the counties has the potential to reach new highs.
