500 more Terror Convicts will Swing for Justice

They say there is no noose like good noose and according to latest reports from Agence France-Presse (AFP) the Pakistani government plans to execute 500 more terror convicts in coming weeks. Already there is has been a huge condemnation by international rights group like Amnesty International which thinks the death penalty will never act as a deterrence to stop terror. However the mood of the mob in Pakistan is very different after the brutal killings of 132 school children in Peshawar by the Pakistani Taliban or Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

Now who are these 400 terror convicts and what judicial process was followed to convict them is an answer which many in the international community would like to know. A senior government official told AFP in the condition of anonymity that “Interior ministry has finalized the cases of 500 convicts who have exhausted all the appeals, their mercy petitions have been turned down by the president and their executions will take place in coming weeks.” There is still danger for publicly speaking against the Taliban because it could lead to violent reprisal against that particular individual. A spokesperson of the Pakistani Prime Minister said “Prime Minister has also issued directions for appropriate measures for early disposal of pending cases related to terrorism,” but this statement precluded on how the sentences will be carried out.

Many in Pakistan call the 16th December attack as mini 9/11 and many theories are also floating and the one most popular is the one where India had sponsored the attack to commemorate that particular day because back in 1971 Pakistan army surrendered to the Indian army in now Bangladesh. But if the hanging of 500 terror convicts should proceed according to plan then the coming week and New Year will be the hardest on the common citizens of Pakistan because the reprisal from Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan will be more severe and bloody.
