Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for an anti-tank missile fired at an Israeli military vehicle in Shebaa farms on the border with Syria and Lebanon according to latest reports from Al Jazeera. However any reports of dead Israeli soldiers are not yet substantiated by the government or the Israel Defense Force (IDF).
The response to the attack on the Israeli forces was immediate and they fired shells across the border into southern Lebanon. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) confirmed that Israeli shelling had killed one of its peacekeepers who is from Spain and this will certainly make matters more complex between Israel and the European Union.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned: "The IDF is ready to act with force on any front".
