Gunmen kill Americans and French citizens in luxury hotel in Tripoli
In a brazen attack in a luxury hotel in Tripoli Libya gunmen killed 10 people most of the dead are Americans and one French citizen has died according to latest information from Associated Press. The seaside Corinthia Hotel is the place where the attack was carried out and before that a car bomb also exploded which has resulted in more deaths, but how many may have died is still not clear. Also five Libyan security guards have also died but again it is not certain if their deaths are related to the attack carried out in hotel.
The two attackers are now dead after a hour long battle with security forces but one thing is clear no one in Libya is safe from attacks from the Islamic terror groups which has deep connection with either Al Qaeda or the Islamic State. The security situation in Libya has degenerated ever since the fall of its dictator Muammar Gaddafi back in 2011. Since then this North African nation has suffered from serious violence.
The UN Security Council condemned the attack "in the strongest terms" and urged all countries to help bring "the perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism to justice."
