Isil Wanted To Swap American Journalist For Pak Scientist

The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) had sent an email to the parents of murdered American journalist James Foley which read ‘if the Americans are willing to free Dr Aafia Siddiqui, an MIT-trained neuroscientist, they in return are willing to swap James Foley according to Press Trust of India (PTI).

Also, ISIL had demanded the release of several other prisoners who are being held by America in there prisons, but the specific demand for the release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui is indeed a very important development. This highly educated women and her incarceration in America is a major thorn on the side of many Islamic Jihadist organisations because of her alleged ties with Al Qaeda. Dr Siddiqui was caught in the Ghazni province in Afghanistan with documents to develop chemical bombs and biological weapons.

Dr Aafia Siddiqui is a hero for ISIL and if she is released from American prison, it will be a great psychological boost for them and would bring more publicity. Several missing journalist who went to cover the conflict in Syria might also be under the control of ISIL and the demand for swapping of hostages could possibly be on the table, hoping the west capitulating in the fear of losing another American. But this will be highly unlikely and the precision bombing of ISIL personal will continue.
