The Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that the Russian armed forces could take entire Ukraine in just two weeks according to the Guardian online news. This irresponsible statement would certainly not go well with America and NATO since the situation is already more than tense in the border region of Russia and Ukraine.
This apparent threat was made when the Russian President was speaking to José Manuel Barroso, the outgoing president of the European commission. Yuri Ushakov, a Kremlin foreign policy adviser said “This is incorrect, and is outside all the normal framework of diplomatic practice, if he did say it. This is simply not appropriate for a serious political figure."
Though the Russia is not denying the comments made by Putin, but are more upset about the leak which now has made matters even worse. It seems history is repeating itself but only this time it is Russia which wants the European Union to fall for appeasement like it happened in 1938 between Germany, Britain and France which allows the takeover of Czechoslovakia by Germany which became the prelude to Second World War.
But having learned from history and strong reminder of the pain and destruction which has always resulted from appeasement, Europe and America will take a strong objection to this new incendiary statement.
