According to latest reports from Agence France-Presse several police officers have died following attacks by Chechen militants in the capital of Grozny in the Russian caucus region. Chechnya has always been a trouble spot for Russia and the Islamic militants are some of the fiercest fighters who have carried out several suicide attacks and bomb explosion in Russia. The memory of Beslan School massacre is still fresh in the minds of many Russians and the Moscow theater hostage crisis back in 2002 led to the death of many civilians.
In this latest attack it is not clear how many people and security personal have died but the fragile peace which this region enjoys lies shattered again with this new attack.
This attack will not come as a surprise to many since many Chechen fighters are right now fighting alongside ISIS in Iraq and Syria and the threat looms large if they return after their considerable combat experience. Russia was and still involved in a very deadly conflict with Chechen rebels for nearly 20 years now but at the moment the current leader Ramzan Kadyrov is a supporter of President Vladimir Putin and is fully backed by the Kremlin.
